Cleveland Police Patrolman’s Association (CPPA) to host holiday shopping trip for 12 local youths at Target in Steelyard Commons  

 

CLEVELAND, OH - To celebrate the season of giving, the Cleveland Police Patrolman’s Association will be taking 12 children Christmas shopping at Target in Steelyard Commons. These children were referred to the Cleveland Police Patrolman’s Association by the Domestic Violence & Sex Crimes Units of the Cleveland Police Department. This initiative is aimed at producing a positive experience for children who have been impacted by tragic events.

Closure of the Columbus Rd. Bridge for Emergency Repairs

CLEVELAND, OH – Effective today, the Columbus Road lift bridge will be closed due to a mechanical failure. All repairs are expected to be completed no later than Monday, July 25, 2011.

Drivers may use Carter Rd. as an alternate route. All lanes on Columbus Rd. should reopen to traffic no later than Monday morning.

City of Cleveland Activates Heat Preparedness Plan

GM Invests $129 Million in Ohio, Indiana and Michigan Plants

Transmissions for eAssist fuel-saving technology among funded projects

DETROIT, MI – General Motors Powertrain plants in Ohio and Indiana that make transmissions for Buick and Chevrolet models with eAssist fuel-saving technology will get the bulk of a $129 million investment GM announced Tuesday.

The money is part of $2 billion being invested in 17 facilities in eight states over the next 18 months and will create or retain 4,000 jobs.

East 9th Street Bridge Closed for Deck Sealing & Joint Repair Project

CLEVELAND, OH – Starting at 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 until 5 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2011 the East 9th Street Bridge will close to through traffic between Lakeside Avenue and the Shoreway (State Route 2) access ramp. The bridge repairs include expansion joint replacement and concrete waterproofing.

Signs will be posted for detour routes using Erieside Avenue, West 3rd Street, and Lakeside Avenue. Access to all parking garages along East 9th Street will be maintained. Additional traffic advisories will be issued if weather is unfavorable.

Cleveland Receives SAFER Grant from FEMA to Recall Firefighters

CLEVELAND, OH – Mayor Frank G. Columbus Road Lift Bridge Closure

CLEVELAND, OH - The Columbus Road Lift Bridge is currently closed to vehicular traffic due to equipment failure. Crews will be working to restore the bridge to operation by end of day tomorrow, July 8, 2011.


Traffic will be detoured to the Carter Road Lift Bridge.
